Recruitment and selection of students for PhD research
The technical labour market for PhD students in the Netherlands is complex: mainly foreign students have to be recruited for PhD research due to a lack of interest from Dutch students. M2I (Materials Innovation Institute) supervises PhD research and found that the recruitment of foreign students was becoming increasingly time-consuming. Under the name M4i (Minds for Innovation) the recruitment and selection has been placed in a separate identity. BuildingCareers Companies, as a participant in M4i, optimised and automated the selection procedure. This did not only include the necessary capacity and behavioural tests but also the online interviews and guidance during the temporary relocation to the Netherlands. Over 95% of the students screened by M4I were promoted after 4 years. In the meantime, BuildngCareers Companies has transferred the accumulated knowledge and experience to, among others, TU Delft.
